business and nonprofits to improve individual lives and strengthen
the whole community simultaneously. |

The
mission of the Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women is to
provide a voice for battered women and member programs; challenge
systems and institutions so they respond more effectively
to the needs of battered women and their children; promote
social change; and support, educate, and connect member programs. |

Wellstone
Action is committed to continue Paul and Sheila's work to
end violence against women and children. Created by representatives
of academic, advocacy, program, and governmental interests,
its goal is to honor Sheila by continuing her legacy
in this area. The Sheila Wellstone Institute was established
to focus attention on violence against women and children
and will reflect Sheila's emphasis on turning the best ideas
and practices into public policy recommendations and
meaningful action at a state and national level.
The late Sheila Wellstone visited
with Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women many times
before her death in October of 2002 as result of plane crash. |
