Our
logo, the sunflower, symbolizes several different aspects
of Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women.
The first aspect is the sunflower
itself, which symbolizes the rural setting of the communities
that Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women serve.
The second aspect is the female sign
representing the specific population of women that we serve.
Lastly,
the flower symbol represents the stages that battered women
go through. The center of the flower is where the battered
women are when they first reach out to us for help - their
darkest time.
The first ring outside of the center
sybolizes when women start to see a little hint of light (hope).
The next dark ring symbolizes the
many battered women who find themselves back in the violent
relationship for various reasons such as: economics, children,
promises, and hope that "it" will never happen again,
etc.
The final ring symbolizes the full
light that battered women experience when they are free of
domestic abuse.
